PlayStation is bringing transparent controllers back, and it is not doing it quietly. Sony's new Prism Collection gives the DualSense controller and PS5 console covers a see-through finish in three colours: Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray. It looks like a small design change until you see the whole set together.

The collection was announced on October 28, 2026. Preorders are scheduled to begin on November 10, with a release starting February 4, 2027. For Indian buyers, there is one catch: Sony has announced international prices, but it has not published a confirmed India price or an India-specific preorder retailer in this announcement.

What is included in the PlayStation Prism Collection?

There are two products in each colour: a DualSense wireless controller and matching PS5 console covers. They are separate accessories, not a special-edition console bundle. The orange version has the brightest appearance, Emerald Green is deeper and darker, and Graphite Gray is the more understated option.

Sony says the transparent finish was inspired by the see-through electronics that were popular in the late 1990s. The shell lets you glimpse parts of the controller beneath the surface. It is still a finished, glossy controller, rather than a completely clear display of every component.

Prism Collection price and release date

The recommended US price is $84.99 for each Prism DualSense controller and $74.99 for the matching PS5 console covers. Sony also lists controller prices of £74.99 in the UK and €84.99 in Europe. Those are regional reference prices, not official rupee prices. Converting dollars into rupees would not tell buyers what Sony India will actually charge.

The November 10 preorder time is 10 am local time at PlayStation Direct where that store operates, and through participating retailers. Sony's list of supported PlayStation Direct markets includes the United States and selected European countries. India is not on that direct-store list. Retailer availability and the exact launch date may vary by region.

A closer look at the three colours

Flare Orange has a bright red-orange shell that takes on a pinkish tone where its transparent layers overlap. Sony's designers describe Emerald Green as a deep hunter green, while Graphite Gray uses a cooler storm-grey finish. Each controller has a contrasting central panel and a high-gloss outer surface.

The effect is not limited to the front. PlayStation's product photography shows the translucent material wrapping around the back and handles of the DualSense. The matching console covers use a combination of coloured panels and transparent sections. That means the look is strongest when the controller and console accessories are used together.

Does Prism change DualSense performance?

Sony has announced Prism as a visual collection. The announcement does not promise new battery life, faster response times, extra buttons or improved haptics. Buyers should treat it as a different finish on a DualSense controller, not a new controller generation.

That distinction matters because the transparent housing is the selling point. If you already own a working DualSense, the decision is about the design and whether the limited colour appeals to you, not a competitive advantage in your games.

Watch the official PlayStation Prism reveal

PlayStation's reveal trailer gives a much better look at the materials than a single product photo can. It moves between the three colours, the controller surfaces and the matching console covers. Watch it below before choosing a colour.

Will the Prism Collection launch in India?

Sony describes the DualSense range as globally available, but that is not the same as a confirmed Indian storefront listing. The announcement does not specify Indian preorder stock, rupee prices, or participating Indian retailers. PS5 covers are also described as limited-quantity products outside direct PlayStation markets.

If you are buying from India, check the official PlayStation India channels and established retail partners when preorders open on November 10. Do not pay a reseller using an estimated international conversion as proof of an Indian launch price.

Should you wait for Prism?

If transparent gaming hardware is your thing, Prism is a rare official option with coordinated console covers. The three colours are also distinct enough that there is no obvious universal winner. Orange stands out, green has a richer tone, and grey should suit quieter setups.

But the important buying facts remain simple: announced October 28, preorders November 10, launch from February 4, 2027, and no confirmed Indian retail pricing yet. The collection is real; local availability still needs a separate announcement.
