Bigby Wolf is back in Fabletown. The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches digitally on October 29, bringing Telltale’s murder mystery to modern hardware with rebuilt characters, upgraded presentation and an optional black-and-white mode. It is an unusually good excuse to revisit a game that many players still remember for its tense conversations rather than its combat.

There is also a buying decision to make. Telltale has confirmed a $24.99 US base price and several discounts, including special treatment for people who already own the original digitally. Not every platform gets the same offer. And despite an earlier release announcement, the Nintendo Switch version will arrive later.

The Wolf Among Us Remastered release date and platforms

The October 29 digital launch covers PlayStation 5, Xbox One with Xbox Series X|S backward compatibility, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Telltale’s more recent October 26 statement says the Switch edition is coming at a later date, with timing still to be announced. Physical editions are planned for early 2027.

That is a change from the publisher’s October 8 announcement, which listed Nintendo Switch alongside the launch-day platforms. The later, more specific notice is the one buyers should follow. Switch owners should not assume the game is available today simply because an earlier trailer or article named October 29.

Price, launch discounts and the original-owner offer

The US list price is $24.99, but Indian buyers should check their own storefront for rupee pricing. Telltale’s launch-discount window runs October 29 to November 12, 2026, with platform-specific eligibility. On Steam, Epic and Xbox, newcomers receive 20% off while digital owners of the matching original game receive 50% off.

On PS5, PlayStation Plus members get 20% off as new buyers or 50% off as eligible original owners. Without Plus, newcomers pay full price, while owners of the original PS4 digital version receive 30% off. The discount depends on the same account and platform store; a physical disc of the old game does not qualify. Prices and exact end times can vary by region.

What has Telltale actually rebuilt?

The story is still the same five-episode detective drama. Bigby works as sheriff for fairytale characters living secretly in 1980s Manhattan, following a killing that threatens their fragile community. Conversations and choices still drive the tension. The point of the remaster is not to replace the writing with a new plot, but to improve how the original is presented.

Telltale says its team reworked character models, lighting, animation, environments and audio. In a PlayStation Blog interview, director Matt Saia said the team preserved the story, original direction and comic-book-inspired visual identity instead of treating the project as an opportunity to rewrite it. That restraint makes sense for a mystery whose appeal depends on tone and player choice.

Noir Mode, lost scenes and bonus footage

Noir Mode switches the entire adventure to black and white and can be toggled during play. It is a visual option, not a separate campaign. The remaster also includes five playable deleted scenes, an art gallery with more than 100 images and over an hour of behind-the-scenes video interviews and production material.

The extra scenes offer the most for returning fans because they show ideas that did not make the original release. The art archive is another valuable addition, especially in a game built around the contrast between recognisable fairytale characters and a grim New York setting.

What about The Wolf Among Us 2?

Telltale has announced that The Wolf Among Us 2 is planned for 2027, with the remaster positioned as a way for newcomers to learn Bigby’s story before the sequel.

For new players, this remains a strong entry point: no multiplayer grind, no live-service roadmap and no need to study years of lore. The hook is simply a murder, an angry sheriff and a neighbourhood full of people who are hiding something.
