Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has barely finished its launch week, but Activision has already detailed the next major update. Season 1 begins on November 6, 2026 and brings new Multiplayer maps, a large DMZ location, weapons, events and a major Warzone integration. For Indian players, the global launch is scheduled for 10:30 AM IST on Friday, November 6.
The date and time come from Activision’s October 28 announcement, which gives midnight Eastern time. Older guides predicted a later evening launch. Those were estimates made before the publisher shared its final start time. There is another difference worth keeping straight: Modern Warfare 4 is a paid game, while Warzone remains free-to-play.
The date, maps and modes at a glance
November 6 at 10:30 AM IST is the start of Season 1 across supported platforms. Three 6v6 maps are listed for the launch: Backstab, Canyon and a reimagined Shoot House. Ministry and Overflow are planned for later in the season, alongside further unnamed maps. Shipment already returned on October 27, so it should not be described as a November 6 addition.

Backstab is a damaged town covered in snow, with longer streets for rifles and building interiors for close-range fights. Canyon is the opposite: dry terrain, tall rock walls, a river crossing and exposed paths between cover. Shoot House keeps its familiar three-lane shape but moves to a North Korean setting. These are not just cosmetic differences. Choosing the same class for every lane will not work equally well.

There are several new ways to play. Grind asks teams to collect fallen players’ tags and bank them for points. Drop Zone puts rotating objectives and killstreak supplies in the same place, rewarding teams that can hold a position. Gauntlet 1v1 is tied to the Wager Match event, where players risk event trophies, not cash or items with real-world value.
Halloween is starting before Season 1
One of the most interesting changes is already happening. The new Possession mode begins October 29: when you eliminate an opponent, you take their place and loadout. Infected returns October 30, splitting the lobby between survivors and a growing group of infected players. Both are pre-season additions and should not be counted among the new November 6 launch modes.
For someone who bought Modern Warfare 4 mainly for regular 6v6, that creates a busy two-week schedule. Players can try casual event modes now, then return for the new map pool and weapon grind when the first season begins.
DMZ gets X01: the strongest reason for extraction players to return
The new DMZ map is called X01, a former Russian facility near Hajin. It has cargo areas, vehicle depots and underground laboratories that lead towards a sealed Deep Vault. Ghost returns as the voice guiding the new Orders. Activision is deliberately keeping some enemies and items classified until release.

The threat system includes commander encounters such as The Captain, a heavily protected juggernaut, and a roaming Wheelson. Threat Briefing missions reward squads for recovering parts and getting them out alive. Activision says all squad members receive progress credit when one player extracts with a qualifying part. That small rule could matter a lot for groups where not everyone survives every run.
A warning for DMZ regulars: the Forward Operating Base also adds a vendor with equipment purchasable using DMZ Cash for players with Season 1 BlackCell. That is a premium-linked access detail, not a statement that every item in DMZ is locked behind a purchase. Still, it is a fair point to watch when judging how the new season treats paid and unpaid progression.
Two launch weapons and an important Battle Pass detail
The Cronen Osprey assault rifle and CSG-35 submachine gun arrive in the Season 1 Battle Pass. Activision lists the Cronen Osprey at tier 16 with 882 rounds per minute, while the CSG-35 appears at tier 36 and fires at 1,200 rounds per minute. The difference is easy to understand: the Osprey offers a fast rifle platform while the CSG-35 is built for close fights, with recoil becoming harder to control at range.
The later additions are the automatic JAK 12 shotgun and the ZLR Talonhawk melee axe, both event rewards. The new Battle Pass has a 100-tier linear progression track with free and premium items; the premium track promises at least 50 rewards. BlackCell is another paid option.
Warzone: Hajin, Zodiac, Verdansk and Rebirth Island
For players who do not own Modern Warfare 4, the bigger story is Warzone. Season 1 integrates Modern Warfare 4 content into the free battle royale and introduces Hajin and Zodiac alongside the return of Verdansk and Rebirth Island. Activision has announced these names, but says the full Warzone-specific roadmap will follow on November 2.
That means some features being passed around in social posts are still incomplete. The correct approach is to report the four confirmed maps and integration, then wait for the separate November 2 briefing before presenting detailed weapon balance or playlist schedules as final.
Is the new content worth returning for?
If you mostly play Multiplayer, the November 6 map variety is the immediate draw. If your friends prefer longer sessions with decisions about loot and extraction, X01 could have greater staying power. Warzone-only players should save the November 2 roadmap because that is where the finer details will land.
