Crimson Desert is returning to the sea, and this time the biggest question is not just what the new expansion adds. It is when Indian players can actually start playing it. Pearl Abyss has scheduled Charting the Unknown for 10 PM UTC on October 29, which converts to 3:30 AM IST on Friday, October 30. That is the important date if you are waiting for the download in India.
The DLC expands the open world of Pywel with ships, underwater exploration, new stories and changes to daily life in the Greymane camp. It was originally planned for October 15 before Pearl Abyss delayed it by two weeks for additional work. Here is what is confirmed, what needs to be unlocked, and what buyers should check before paying.
Crimson Desert DLC release time in India
Charting the Unknown is scheduled to unlock simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store at 3:30 AM IST on October 30. PlayStation players can preload the DLC 24 hours beforehand. On the other platforms, the download becomes available at release. Pearl Abyss also says the base game will receive a patch at the same time, and asks players to install that patch before launching.
That means a store page displaying October 29 is not necessarily an earlier India launch. It refers to the global release moment in a different time zone. The publisher has not confirmed an installation test on every supported Indian device, so the scheduled unlock should not be described as independently tested gameplay.
Exploring Pywel’s ocean is the headline addition
Kliff, Oongka and Damiane will all be able to dive below the surface. Pearl Abyss says the ocean contains submerged ruins, treasure, creatures and mounts, giving players somewhere new to explore rather than simply extending the existing land map. Diving does not require a special quest to begin, but breath is limited, so equipment that extends time underwater can make longer trips safer.

A personal ship is a different unlock. After setting up the Greymane camp at Howling Hill, players can complete the related questline and obtain a vessel. The publisher describes two routes: dispatch comrades on a shipbuilding job at a port, or buy a ship from a Fleet Office manager. That unlock opens proper sailing across the Great Ocean and its islands.
New character stories require the main campaign
The expansion adds a new storyline for each of its three principal characters. To start those chapters from the Journal, you need to finish the main story first. There is also a separate ocean-focused storyline available after the Howling Hill section.
It is a sensible way to structure the expansion: returning players who finished the campaign can head into the character epilogues, while others can start exploring the ocean earlier.
Marriage, housing, castles and business management
Pearl Abyss is also widening the quieter side of life in Pywel. Some relationships can develop into romance and marriage, and close friends can visit an upgraded Greymane camp. An expanded housing system allows more personal building, although players must establish their camp and complete Luke’s Request under the Grounds of the Sunrise faction quest first.
There are three castles that can eventually be claimed after clearing the relevant main-story and regional quests. Business management also grows: the official preview mentions running a restaurant in Vellua and a smithy at Zargan Tankworks after unlocking the surrounding regions.

Garden of Trials brings the fights back
If you prefer combat to decorating houses, Garden of Trials is built around consecutive encounters with bosses from the adventure. Pearl Abyss says it unlocks after completing the main questline and rewards players for clearing the challenge. It is another reason to finish the campaign before treating the DLC as a completely standalone experience.
Price, preorder bonuses and Mac availability
The publisher announced a €24.99 or £19.99 digital price in its September press materials. Actual Indian pricing and purchase eligibility should be checked on your local PlayStation, Xbox, Steam or Epic storefront rather than calculated from foreign prices. The pre-order bonus includes the Charter’s Diving Set for Kliff and Oongka and the Charter’s Light Diving Set for Damiane.
Crimson Desert Enhanced is an update to the base game, but that free Enhanced upgrade must not be confused with the separate paid Charting the Unknown DLC. The Mac App Store version of the DLC will not be available at launch. The publisher also warns that some regions cannot buy the expansion following ratings and content reviews, without establishing in the announcement that India is affected.
What players should do before launch
Check your regional store listing, leave room for the base-game patch, and finish Howling Hill if you want to explore the ship systems quickly. If the character epilogues or Garden of Trials are your main reason to return, completing the main story matters more. The new areas are promising, but the exact download size, performance and post-launch stability need real gameplay evidence before anyone can judge them.
