Linked or verified? What gaming account badges tell you

Read the method behind the badge, the source of each statistic and when it was last refreshed.

In this guide

A linked account, a verified identity and a refreshed statistic are different states. Open the connection details and check what the service actually checked before relying on a badge.

If the information came through another service, such as Discord, that source should be clear. It is not the same as a direct sign-in with the game provider.

A useful way to read connection badges

Linked usually means an association is recorded between accounts or game identities. Connected indicates an integration or connection is present. Verified should refer to a specific check of identity or control. Verified via Discord tells you the evidence came through Discord's connected-account information, not necessarily from the game publisher's own login flow.

Those definitions help interpret BytePlay's labels, but don't apply them blindly to every service on the internet. Each platform should say what its own verification method actually proves.

Why indirect verification exists

You might have one account on Steam, one on Epic, another for VALORANT and two different console identities. Not all providers offer the same developer permissions or account-linking options. In some cases an app can establish a relationship through another authorised platform; in others it can only store a manual identifier.

That doesn't make indirect proof worthless. It makes its source important. If a service knows about an Epic connection because Discord reports it, a clear “via Discord” label is better than implying direct Epic authorisation that never happened.

Check which statistics are available

Imagine two players. The first has linked several gaming accounts and can show a list of supported titles. The second has fewer connections, but one has verified achievement data available. Neither profile is “better” by default; they answer different questions.

When you look at a gaming stat, find the provider, refresh date and scope. Is it an achievement record, a player-supplied rank, a manually captured profile field or a live game-specific result? Do not treat all of them as interchangeable merely because they appear on the same page.

How BytePlay QRAFT approaches the problem

BytePlay QRAFT brings gaming identity, supported game connections and other player records into one presentation. The useful detail is not simply how many logos it can display. It's that the account cards distinguish different states and should reflect the source of available information.

Connect only accounts you control, review provider permissions and check which details are shared with other players. If an integration fails or its stats aren't available, a blank or an honest status message is better than a fabricated complete profile.

When a verification request asks too much

Be wary of anyone who offers an instant “verified” badge in exchange for a password, one-time code or account recovery access. The more official a badge looks, the more important it is to ask who issued it and how it was earned. A third-party label does not transform into a game publisher's endorsement because it uses a green tick.

Likewise, don't share screenshots that expose email addresses, recovery information or other account details when a simple player identifier would do. A public gaming profile does not need to expose account-recovery details.

What to look for when checking a teammate's profile

Start with whether the games match what the player says they play. Then see which accounts have direct or indirect connections, whether any statistics have a source, and how recent that data is. Finish with the part no badge can settle: have a conversation and play a session together.
