A Monster Hunter game has arrived on mobile, and this is not a companion app. Monster Hunter Outlanders launched on October 29, 2026 for iOS and Android, taking Capcom’s monster-hunting formula into a free-to-play game built for phones. You can hunt alone, explore a new island and form a four-player party. The first launch update also adds Charge Blade, a weapon series players will recognise.

The game comes from an unusual partnership: Capcom licenses and supervises the franchise, Tencent-owned TiMi Studio Group develops it, and Garena is among its regional publishers. That is worth understanding in India, where Garena is better known for Free Fire and TiMi’s credits include Call of Duty: Mobile and Honor of Kings. This release is about a different kind of mobile competition: a co-operative hunt where positioning and preparation matter as much as quick reactions.

Monster Hunter Outlanders: launch details and phone requirements

The game is free to download, with optional in-app purchases. The official launch FAQ recommends Android 12 or newer, or iOS 17 or newer, and a phone or tablet with at least 6GB RAM. Those are recommended specifications, not a promise of smooth performance on every qualifying device. Capcom lists the release as October 29; mainland China is due later, from 2027 onwards.

Indian players can use the official download page to check which store listing serves their country. Publisher and storefront arrangements vary by region, and this report has not independently verified availability for every Indian account. Do not treat a third-party APK or a social-media pre-register link as an official installer.

What do you actually do in Aesoland?

Aesoland is the new setting. Players hunt monsters, gather materials, craft equipment and explore its changing environments. The important difference from a conventional competitive shooter is the loop: learn how a monster moves, prepare the right gear, survive its attacks, then use what the hunt gives you to improve. Monster Hunter fans know the rhythm. Outlanders asks whether that rhythm can work in a session played on a phone.

The studio has created Radiant Species, familiar monsters changed by the island’s environment. Launch material highlights the original Elder Dragon Ruger Aidal as a major threat, alongside Radiant creatures with altered attacks. The game also brings three companion types called Buddies: Palico, Rutaco and Trillan. They assist in different ways, from fighting to using tools and supporting the party.

This is not simply four identical hunters sharing a map. Outlanders uses named Adventurers with weapons and abilities of their own. Midori fights using a Long Sword hidden inside a shamisen. Other characters are built around a Great Sword, a Bow or a Heavy Bowgun. It gives squads reasons to think about who takes which role instead of every person carrying the same setup.

Eight weapons at launch, including the Charge Blade

The launch lineup contains Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Lance, Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun and Bow. Charge Blade switches between sword-and-shield and axe fighting styles. That gives it a different rhythm from a straightforward heavy weapon, although the exact best damage combinations will take players time to test.

An official launch video shows the new weapon and monsters in motion. Use that footage to judge the combat rather than reading a long list of promises. The studio says more weapons and monsters are planned, but there is no reason to assume every missing series favourite will arrive on a particular date.

Can you play with friends and use a controller?

Yes. Co-operative hunts support a party of four. Controller support is also in the launch build for key actions during hunts, quests and exploration. There is an important limitation: the developers call this initial Season 0 support and say other menus or systems still need further work. A connected controller does not mean every screen has full controller navigation.

A practical starting plan for a new squad is to try different weapons, spend the first hunts learning monster attacks and keep a ranged or support option available. The eight weapons do not all work at the same distance. Four people dealing damage without watching the monster are not automatically a balanced team.

Launch rewards: what does 400+ recruitment attempts mean?

The launch campaign is advertising enough recruitment items to make more than 400 attempts through its planned event rewards. That does not mean every new account immediately receives 400 free draws on login. Players need to check each event, its date, eligibility and reward conditions. Early activities include Midori’s Flowing Maple Melody challenge and a character trial called A Melody Echoing Through the Maples.

A separate Adventurer’s Guild campaign runs from October 29 through November 30. Its community milestones combine guild progression across servers to unlock a sticker and honorary title. For players joining with friends, that is a more useful early activity than blindly spending resources in the first hour.

Why this release matters beyond one mobile game

Capcom said Monster Hunter sales had passed 131 million across the series as of June 30, 2026. Outlanders gives that established franchise a much broader mobile entry point. But a big name and free download are only the beginning. Hunting games depend on readable attacks, stable performance and a reason to repeat encounters without feeling pushed into spending.

That is the real test after launch. Will a 6GB device handle a demanding four-player hunt well? Are the rewards generous once the opening events end? Can friends organise groups easily? Neither promotional trailers nor launch-day download numbers can answer those questions. Players will know after they have spent weeks in Aesoland.
