India is getting its own region in PUBG PC esports in 2027. KRAFTON has confirmed it in the official global roadmap, after weeks of hints about a bigger Indian circuit. This is no longer a leak. But it is also not an automatic ticket to a world championship.

The news came in three steps. On October 20, KRAFTON India Esports teased a new chapter for PC competition. On October 21, registrations opened for the ₹25 lakh PUBG India Challenge. Then, in the global 2027 announcement dated October 28, PUBG Esports named India as a new competitive region. KRAFTON’s PUBG game site published the same plans on October 29.

For Indian squads, the real change is the route. A home Regional League will decide who can move into the PUBG Global Series (PGS). Results on that international stage will earn the new PUBG Esports Points used toward the PUBG Global Championship (PGC). Four separate phases give teams repeated chances across the season. Exactly how many PGS places India will receive is still unannounced.

First, what KRAFTON has actually confirmed

India will be a separate competitive region in 2027. Each of four phases will have a Regional League leading into the matching PGS phase. Teams must qualify again each time, even if they played the previous PGS. Partner teams lose their guaranteed PGS spots. Only PGS performances earn PUBG Esports Points for the 2027 PGC race.

KRAFTON has not released the number of Indian PGS seeds, the Indian Regional League name or organiser, qualification format, prize money, open-qualifier dates, LAN venues, or final PGC points table. It also has not said that winning the 2026 PUBG India Challenge guarantees a place in a 2027 Regional League or PGS. Those are important missing pieces, not small print.

PUBG Esports moved its professional competition to third-person perspective (TPP) for 2026, and the PUBG India Challenge uses TPP too. That may help mobile players understand the viewing angles, but the PC mechanics, movement, recoil and lobby pace are not the same. Detailed 2027 India-specific match rules have not been published.

India had a route before 2027. Here is what was missing.

Indian PC players were not locked out of every international PUBG competition. In 2026, eligible Indian teams could enter the PUBG Master Series (PMS) with teams from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Southeast Asia and Oceania. The publisher said that circuit had two 2026 PGC places based on full-year regional points. Those were shared across the PMS field, not reserved for India.

There was another gap. KRAFTON’s published 2026 PGS seed chart listed 12 Global Partner Team places and 12 regional places per event. Those regional places went to Korea, Vietnam, the Americas, EMEA, China and Thailand. PMS was not listed among the regular regional seeds for the 2026 PGS field, even though it had a route toward PGC.

That is why a dedicated India region matters. It puts India by name in the regional system that feeds PGS, rather than leaving its players to fight through a larger multinational field for the season-ending championship. It does not mean Indian teams will be seeded directly into every PGS without a qualifier.

The new road to PGS and PGC, explained with one Indian team

Imagine a new Indian four-player squad entering Phase 1. First, it would need to meet the rules of India’s Regional League and finish high enough to take one of the country’s PGS places. The number of places has not been announced. Making the league is not the same as making PGS.

At PGS, the same squad competes internationally. Its performance there earns PUBG Esports Points. Those points add to its total over the year and count toward PGC qualification. Regional results are the key that opens the global door; global results decide the points chase. The exact PGC cutoff and the number of championship tickets remain to be published.

When Phase 2 arrives, even a team that reached PGS in Phase 1 has to return to its Regional League and qualify again. If it misses Phase 2, it does not gain new PGS points from that phase. It can try again in Phase 3 or Phase 4, but rivals who qualify more often may build a larger points total.

There is also one bonus seed. The region of a PGS champion receives an extra place at the following PGS. The champion itself does not automatically keep that place. Teams still earn the additional regional berth through the next phase’s league. If an Indian team ever wins a PGS phase, that rule could give the Indian region another seat in the next global stage. It is a possible reward, not a seat already allocated to India.

PUBG Esports 2027: the full announced calendar

Phase 1, late March to early May: the season starts with regional competition, including the new Indian region, followed by the corresponding PGS phase. KRAFTON has not given India’s first match date.

Phase 2, mid-May to mid-June: teams return to their Regional Leagues for a fresh chance to enter PGS. No roster is automatically carried into the global event.

PUBG Nations Cup, early July: the international national-team competition is on the calendar between the two halves of the season. It is not a fifth Regional League phase, and the 2027 invitation and selection details are not yet announced.

Phase 3, early August to mid-September: the regional-to-PGS route opens again, giving teams another opportunity to gather international points.

Phase 4, late September to early November: the last regional and global phase of the regular season. Teams still need a league result to enter PGS; no final qualification standings are available yet.

PUBG Global Championship, late November to early December: the year ends with PGC. The publisher has confirmed this window, not the venue, prize money, exact dates or 2027 qualification breakdown.

It is a long calendar, running from spring to the end of the year. For Indian organisations, the hard part may be staying competitive through all four stages, not just producing one good weekend. Teams will need regular practice, stable rosters, equipment, travel funds if LAN events are announced, and opponents strong enough to push them between qualifiers.

Why the 2027 points change is bigger than it looks

In 2026, PUBG used two different systems. PGC Points could be earned in regional competitions, while PGS Points came from international events. The 2026 championship field used a mix of global and regional qualification routes. In 2027, KRAFTON is replacing those systems with PUBG Esports Points earned only at PGS.

This creates a clear reward for beating strong international teams, but also a tougher test for a developing region. An Indian squad can dominate at home and still fall behind in the PGC race if its PGS results are poor. Equally, a team that learns quickly on the global stage could build its points over several phases. KRAFTON has not yet published how many points each PGS placement will earn.

One caution: the 2027 announcement does not say that every PGC place must come from the same points ranking, or that direct national or host-country places will disappear. The complete 2027 PGC qualification rules are still outstanding. It would be wrong to copy the 2026 seed split into the new season.

The Global Partner Team safety net is going away

In the first half of 2026, 12 of the 24 places at each PGS event were reserved for Global Partner Teams. In 2027, the partnership changes direction. KRAFTON says it will focus on co-branded in-game items and marketing, while every team, including current partners, will have to qualify through its Regional League.

That is a major change for established organisations. A famous badge or an existing partnership will not reserve a PGS lobby. For a new Indian team, it improves the sporting argument for investing in a roster: a good regional result can matter more than invitation status. It does not erase the advantage bigger teams have in salaries, coaching and support.

Where does the ₹25 lakh PUBG India Challenge fit into this?

The PUBG India Challenge (PIC 2026) is the immediate opportunity for Indian players. Its registrations close on November 4 at 11:59 PM IST. The PC event uses four-player TPP squads and has a total prize pool of ₹25 lakh. Open Qualifiers are on November 11, the League is planned across November 12–22, Last Chance follows on November 26, and the 16-team Grand Finals are on November 28–29.

Up to 128 squads can enter its opening qualifier field, 32 progress to the League, 12 go directly to the final, and four more come through Last Chance. The competition provides actual Indian lobbies, published rules and a national title to chase. It also gives tournament staff and teams a chance to test how much local interest exists.

Do not confuse PIC’s four stages with the four phases of the 2027 global calendar. They are different structures in different seasons. KRAFTON has not said PIC 2026 is Phase 0 of the new league, that its champion gets a PGS invitation, or that its current rulebook automatically becomes the 2027 India league rulebook.

The full PIC registration criteria, match format and prize distribution are already covered in our earlier India Challenge report. The new development here is that the bigger 2027 regional plan is now official, while PIC-to-PGS qualification is not.

India has already worn the jersey at the PUBG Nations Cup

The country is not starting from zero on the international stage. At PUBG Nations Cup 2026 in Seoul, India was among the 24 national teams. The publisher’s official roster poster named Trnsluc3nt, SniPauL, Unforgiven and TuhinMAX10, coached by Ryzn07. That is real PUBG PC representation, even though it is separate from a year-round Indian professional league.

The 2027 roadmap includes another Nations Cup in July, but it has not confirmed which countries will attend or how they will choose their squads. A country appearing at PNC 2026 does not guarantee the same roster, invitation or selection method in 2027. The four-phase club circuit and the national-team tournament should be followed as separate stories.

The regional map is changing worldwide, not just in India

KRAFTON will also divide the old EMEA region into Europe, Eurasia and MENA, and split the Americas into North America and South America. Those changes matter because regional seed allocation and travel demands can look very different once huge territories stop sharing one qualifier. India is the newly added region in that announced restructuring.

What the announcement does not spell out is just as important. It does not provide a complete 2027 seed table for Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam, the rest of Asia-Pacific or India. It also does not say whether teams from neighbouring countries will be allowed in India’s league. Any published chart assigning India one guaranteed PGS spot per phase should be treated as a prediction until KRAFTON releases the rules.

What Indian players and teams should watch next

The first answer to look for is the Indian Regional League rulebook: who can register, how open qualifiers work, the roster eligibility rules and how many teams reach PGS. After that come the regional prize pool, broadcast and LAN plans, travel support, PGS allocation and how PUBG Esports Points turn into PGC places. Until those details arrive, no organisation can sensibly price a full 2027 campaign.

For players who want to start competing now, PIC 2026 is a real tournament with a published closing date. Enter only after reading the official rules, and do not assume the 2027 league will use exactly the same eligibility or event format. For viewers, the next useful updates will be actual Indian participants and results, not another promise of a future circuit.

India now has something its PC scene has been waiting for: a confirmed regional place on the global calendar. The announcement opens the door. The next job for KRAFTON is to show how wide that door is, and for Indian squads to prove they belong in the lobby when it opens.
