Nintendo packed a surprising number of announcements into its October 28 Indie World showcase. The short presentation included a release date for Witchbrook, a Switch 2 version of co-op horror favourite R.E.P.O., several new adventures and free demos that players can check out without waiting until 2027.
This was not a Nintendo Direct about Mario, Zelda or another first-party blockbuster. Indie World exists to show smaller teams and the different kinds of games they are building. That is why a magic-school life sim appeared alongside criminal raccoons, a brutal martial-arts roguelike and a horror game about carefully carrying stolen objects.
Here are the announcements that matter most, with the actual dates Nintendo has confirmed.
Witchbrook finally has a release date
Chucklefish's Witchbrook launches on January 28, 2027, for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The long-awaited life sim takes players to Mossport, where they attend Witchbrook College, meet residents, build friendships and learn magic. It also supports online play for up to four people.
For fans who have followed Witchbrook for years, the important part is that Nintendo now lists a specific day rather than a broad window. The date comes from the publisher's October 28 recap.

R.E.P.O. is coming to Switch 2
R.E.P.O. is one of the showcase's easiest games to explain and one of its hardest to play well. Friends enter dangerous locations to retrieve valuable objects, but the physics-based grabbing system makes every move risky. A heavy piano, a fragile vase or a badly timed drop can turn a straightforward job into chaos.
Nintendo announced a Switch 2 version for 2027. It did not give a specific release day or confirm that the game will also arrive on the original Switch. Do not confuse the announcement with an immediate eShop release.
The showcase also featured Super Battle Golf, where up to eight players compete on the same course while trying to sabotage each other, and Dumpster Gang, a four-player raccoon co-op game arriving in March 2027.
Sword of the Sea arrives on Switch 2 today
One release is much closer than most of the others. Sword of the Sea, from Giant Squid and the publisher Fictions, launches on Switch 2 on October 29, 2026. Players ride a magical Hoversword across sand, ice and water, combining surfing-style movement with exploration.
The game comes from creators associated with ABZÛ and The Pathless. Its appeal is not competitive combat but movement, atmosphere and discovering a world that changes as the ocean returns.
Spirit Crossing, the online life sim from Spry Fox, has a November 16, 2026 release date on both Switch generations. RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition and TANUKI: Pon's Summer are scheduled for November 10, making the next few weeks busy for players who prefer smaller releases.
Four free demos announced for Nintendo eShop
Nintendo says players can try demos for Haunted Paws, Petal Runner, RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition and Winds of Viridia starting around the showcase. The final visibility of each demo may depend on the regional eShop and the time the listing updates.
Haunted Paws is a two-player adventure about puppies exploring a haunted mansion. Petal Runner follows motorcycle couriers transporting digital pets around a detailed pixel-art world. RACCOIN mixes roguelike upgrades with a coin-pusher machine. Winds of Viridia focuses on exploration, grappling and combat alongside a mothbug companion.
The demos are a useful way to judge the games before committing to a preorder or waiting for their release dates. They are not the full versions.

More Switch 2 games worth watching in 2027
Tenjutsu, from the designer of Dead Cells, sends a fighter against criminal factions in a top-down roguelike. City of None is a new adventure from creators connected to Celeste, with a city divided into distinct areas and fast combat. Neither has an exact launch date beyond 2027.
Threads of Time is a turn-based role-playing game built around characters from different eras. Nintendo lists it for summer 2027 on Switch and Switch 2. Slime Rancher 2 is due on Switch 2 in January 2027, while the Japanese-folklore adventure Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino is aiming for spring.

Nintendo Indie World October 2026: release calendar
October 29, 2026: Sword of the Sea on Switch 2. November 10, 2026: RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition and TANUKI: Pon's Summer. November 16, 2026: Spirit Crossing. January 28, 2027: Witchbrook. March 2027: Dumpster Gang. Summer 2027: Threads of Time. R.E.P.O. and Tenjutsu currently have broader 2027 windows.
The most useful thing about this showcase is the range of games it offered. Players who want a shared horror experience, a slower life sim or a demanding action game all have something to follow.
