Nongshim RedForce ended the opening day of BMIC 2026 on 72 points, just one ahead of Dplus KIA. Korea swept the top three places in Mumbai, but India had two reasons to celebrate: Team Outrage won on Erangel and K9 Esports delivered the biggest single-match score of the day on Miramar.

For longtime PUBG Mobile players, Alan Walker’s opening at Mumbai’s NSCI Dome brought back memories of the game’s early days. He performed favourites including Faded and On My Way, with Indian pop girl group W.I.S.H also taking the stage alongside him. It felt more like a concert than a routine esports opening, and set a high bar for future events as live music becomes a bigger part of the show.

Then the tournament took over. Six teams from India and five each from South Korea and Japan began their 18-match contest, with the Day 1 lead changing hands four times in six games.

Korea claimed four wins, including two for Dplus. India took two. Japan had no Chicken Dinner, although KINOTROPE finished seventh overall on 35 points.

Six matches, six different turning points

Match 1, Rondo: Dplus opened with a measured 15-point Chicken Dinner, five finishes and the full ten placement points. Nongshim, DRX and Japan’s REIGNITE each took 12. Team SouL collected eight eliminations but finished ninth, an early sign of the placement problem that would follow them.

Match 2, Erangel: Outrage gave India its first win, taking 23 points with 13 finishes. NinjaBoi was credited with six eliminations in the game. The result put Outrage first overall on 30 points, ahead of GAME PT on 27. It was a strong answer from a team that entered BMIC as India’s sixth BMSD qualifier.

Match 3, Erangel: Nongshim replied with a 16-point win built on survival. HyunBin secured three of their six eliminations. FOCUS scored 13, while 8Bit and Dplus added 11 each. Nongshim moved to 36 overall and took the lead; Dplus had nine finishes but not the placement points to catch them in that game.

Match 4, Erangel: Dplus struck back with 24 points and 14 finishes. Nolbu accounted for seven eliminations, making this their most explosive game of the day. Dplus reached 54 overall, eight ahead of Nongshim. 8Bit also gained nine points, but no Indian team was close to matching Dplus’s pace.

K9’s Miramar comeback was Day 1’s defining Indian fight

Match 5, Miramar: K9 had only eight points from four games. Then Taurus took over. The team collected 16 finishes and a 26-point Chicken Dinner, including 10 eliminations credited to Taurus.

The final fight against fellow Indian side Blitz was not a clean sweep. Blitz initially had a player advantage and higher ground after Stranger was knocked, but they did not press. K9 recovered, SnowJOD found the opening knock and Blitz lost players in quick succession. Ralphie fought back at the end but could not save the game.

We also saw K9 replacing Smoker with Stranger earlier in the day. In the post-match interview, Saumraj said the substitution was a coaching decision. The win lifted K9 to 34 points, although a scoreless sixth game left them eighth at day’s end.

DRX win the last Miramar game; Nongshim take the day

Match 6, Miramar: Defending champions Kiwoom DRX saved their best for last. With 13 finishes and 23 points, they beat Nongshim and KINOTROPE through a tense late-circle contest. The broadcast described DRX punishing TIZ1’s exposed position before closing out the final fight.

That win moved DRX into third on 56. More importantly, Nongshim took 14 points from second place and eight finishes, while Dplus managed eight. Dplus had led 63–58 after Match 5. The last game flipped it: Nongshim 72, Dplus 71. Both ended with 42 eliminations; one extra placement point decided the day.

India’s Day 2 task: turn fighting points into survival

Outrage lead the Indian teams in fourth with 47 points and NinjaBoi on 17 finishes, according to the published player standings. Blitz are sixth with 37 and 8Bit ninth with 32. SouL and Gladiators have 21 finishes each, but only three and four placement points respectively. Their problem is not simply losing gunfights; they need to reach later circles more often.

Twelve matches remain on October 31 and November 1. There is no Smash Rule: every point counts across all 18 games. Nongshim and Dplus look the most balanced, but Outrage are only 25 points off the lead, and Miramar showed how quickly K9 can recover. India need repeatable top finishes, not only another spectacular Chicken Dinner.
